Dear Reader,
Welcome to Exit 33’s 2020 issue. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well in this precarious time. Due to the current global health situation, we were unable to print our annual issue. With this in mind, we moved our issue online to showcase the merits of our authors and artists. We hope the new format will reach many readers and provide a place of solace. For this year’s edition, we exhibit a wide spectrum of perspectives: from Alex Lanzilotta and Amit Perez’s sassy piece on pop culture to Kevin Lin’s experimental poem inspired by E.E. Cummings to Anna Sardo’s touching tribute to her grandmother. Our writers moan about calculus, tackle the challenges of a sonnet, venture into love, rebel against the world, and prove themselves as worthy friends. These pieces give us a glimpse into the mysterious, funny, and smart minds of teenagers. Their writing exhibits the vivacity and power of youth. But great power comes with great responsibility. We are tremendously grateful that our Exit 33 team has crafted a cohesive and elegant magazine amidst technological limitations. We thank Mr. Moran for his dedication and involvement as Faculty Advisor, Mr. Weinstein for encouraging his Creative Writing students to submit their work, and Ms. Stancati and Mrs. Saltoun for creating this amazing website. Thank you to all the creative and bright minds who submitted and especially those who submitted but who we unfortunately could not include. We commend you for your efforts and encourage you to keep writing. Finally, the editorial staff thanks the entire student body and faculty for their continued support of our magazine. With that, we look forward to granting you digital access into the human matrix and teenage consciousness. Enjoy! Your Editors-In-Chief, Benjamin T. Rossen and Grace Q. Song |
