I will sing for you
Anonymous On sunny days in the sweltering heat, I will unfurl your flag and plant it firmly in the scorching sand. On the high seas, your vessel under siege, I will mount your mast and sound the cannons for you. In the opera house amidst arias and librettos and tenors and sopranos, I will sing for you under the scrutiny of the spotlight. On the battlefield of destruction, replete with shame and misery and all the rest, I will cry for you tears of never-ending pain. On bitterly cold days when the frost’s bite and the frostbite are simply too much to bear, when the cruel silence rings most hollow, I will stay by your side and nurse you back to health. And on the empty concrete, after one too many tribulations, when you’re worn-down, worn-out, and weary, I will stroll forward with or without you and continue in your name. |
