Sonnet #1
Miackie Domingo O Light that has left me in ruins Nothing is left for me in your blinding radiance And those of your light have thrown me to the side Cursèd they thought, I was but afraid of the light’s distrust The Darkness embraced me with cold, understanding arms Accepted this broken, lonesome shell of a boy that once was With all his imperfections, telling him they gave a man strength, Fueling a power outshining the light’s glow They said that love brought a man to his knees, Scorching and rendering him undone He should, could, would ne’r fall into that fiery pit To failure he will fall into if heat seeped into his heart Yet you, a ray of light, a warm blaze unbeknownst to me, Thaws this frigid heart; kindling one strong and anew for thee |
